Like blinds, shutters allow you to control the amount of light that comes into the room while still providing privacy from passers-by. Unlike blinds, however, most shutters also have high R-values, insulating your room against heat in the summer and cold in the winter. They can also protect against sound. Finally, shutters are an incredibly attractive window treatment option, adding a traditional charm to virtually any type of window and most types of French doors.
